I have made a quick mock up of what the full first shot is going to look like and I am pretty impressed with the overall look of it with it only taking me about 45 minutes to make it all. I feel like this is going to be an appropriate background for my animation however I plan to go back and add a few more details on the side road such as lamp posts, fire hydrants and yellow lights coming from the lamp posts. Also I plan on adding a plane going by saying a message like don’t text and drive or some kind of play on words.

First Car Draft

Asset 1

This is my first car draft which is what I am going to be using as kind of a working car template for my animation for one/few of the shots in the animation, I am pretty impressed to be honest with my first draft, it may need a few more touches on the detail but with my animation its not all about the detail its more about flat design and being eye catching and visually appealing!

I am yet to decide if I am going to use this car design for all 3 of my short animations or whether to make two other different styles because the continuity will look good but with the 3 animations they are all different scenarios so I feel as though it would be better for different backgrounds and designs etc.

Colour Schemes

Along side the animation styles I have been doing research on Colour Schemes and after looking at the animation style I have looked at what kind of colours they used for the flat design kind of animation and they used a lot of light pastel colours which is what I have decided to use which is best for my theme. Here are some examples of colours which I will be basing mine around:

Although these kind of colours you may not see on a car in real life however I will be intended to try and keep the colours the same just instead of being the actual colour it will be more of a pastel version of it making it look more like a cartoon animation but to also keep it eye catching in the best design style I can.

Mood Board

This week I have been working on a lot of research with me being so far behind in the process I have to speed up all my work so it wont effect my final product and then I can spend as much time as I will need to make sure it is up to the standard which is required but to also the standard I am happy with! I have decided I am going to be going into the flat design area for my animation and throughout the next week I will come up with a mock draft of what I want it to look like, it will be a mixture of all the aspects in my mood board.

Animation Styles

This week I have been cracking on with my work with me been pretty far behind on work, however here are the results!

Work safely in your office (Norsk Hydro) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYVBVx-dX6k

With me believing in simple yet effective designs, they are used throughout this video which is much easier to follow than a cheesy video using real people, personally better to look at which helps as I am also the age of my intended target audience. However with this design I do feel like its too simple and although it gets the message across I personally would like to add more detail into such work.

Road Safety Awareness Video (Animation) for Children (SafetyAnimation) –

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBT8ujU5DTY

Although the whole look of this animation is not what I am intending to do it does show signs of what kind of story line mine will have like a sort of Do/Don’t kind of thing and that video also has the same intended outcome which is to inform the audience. Also has helped me to understand what I may need to include in my animation like other road users and detail etc.2

A Flat Animation – (Motion Graphics) (Dimitri Chouvaeff) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTrzSSf0YlA

Visually this style of design/animation is my favourite with the use of flat design and simple animation movement it allows the user to recognise famous characters etc. and also is very visually appealing to watch! I would like to incorporate some flat design into my my animation as if I can make my animation visually appealing not only will it be seen by more people through word of mouth but people may take it more seriously especially with it surrounding a serious subject.

Overall there is something I can take from all 3 styles and I can use them to make the best visually appealing animation I can, but mainly getting the intended message across.
